Message from Ocean Beach Police Department 7/8/2023
We are investigating the disturbing situations brought to our attention over the holiday week involving unsupervised teenagers. We have video footage of the combatants, as wells as other minor child spectators. An arrest has been made and we will continue to pursue, investigate and prosecute any violators.
After sun down, there is a marked increase in unruly behavior amongst the teenage kids here in Ocean Beach. As you may have observed, patrols in certain areas have been increased. These gatherings are breeding bad behavior. After 10:00 pm there’s nothing beneficial for teenagers to do, except to find themselves involved with trouble. Parents with children and their guests are responsible to monitor their behavior.
In order to prevent the situation from escalating, the Village is prepared to take any and all steps necessary to curtail this behavior, including the reporting of unsupervised children under the age of 16 years old who have committed offenses and crimes to Child Protective Services. Parents will be notified and your child will be told to go home, get on a ferry or leave Ocean Beach.
Please be aware of your children’s whereabouts. Please report any suspicious activity to the Ocean Beach Police Department (631)583-5866, day or night, 24 hours 7 days a week! We all play a role in keeping our community safe!
