Ocean Beach Youth Group 2022 Review
The Ocean Beach Youth Group family of directors, staff and board members are excited to start another season of camp. We have implemented an online registration system OBYG.org to bring modern convenience to our beloved Fire Island institution.
Every year we bring new programming and talent to OBYG, but our mission remains the same: for every child in Ocean Beach and the surrounding communities to enjoy camp, whether as a camper or counselor. We hire every local teenager and twenty-something who wants a job. We pride ourselves by finding a place for everyone to be part of OBYG. Last year we awarded more than $40,000 in tuition scholarships. For more information about our scholarship program, visit our office or click the website link below for an application. Every family is considered on a case by case basis and handled with extreme sensitivity and confidentiality.
Ocean Beach Youth Group, an 8-week non profit day camp, is situated at the historic, newly renovated Windswept where Ocean Road meets the Bay. Established more than 70 years ago, OBYG provides the families of Ocean Beach and its neighboring communities a full day for children ages 3 through 14, a CIT program for 15 year olds and is the largest employer of teens and twenty-somethings on the island. Campers learn how to sail, wakeboard, play tennis, make art, perform dance and dramatic shows and make friends to last them a lifetime. For more information and to register, please visit OBYG.org.
For recreation programs for all ages, please visit OBYG.org/rec-program to see a full schedule of events such as book clubs, canasta and mah jong, art classes and an evening teen program.
We offer flexibility for your summer planning by allowing open registration throughout the summer with options for the week, month or season. We hope your family will join us!
